Search Sleuth
When you hire a digital marketing consultant, you want someone who understands your goals and is invested in achieving them.
I bring specialist skills in SEO, Google Ads, content and strategy, along with a knack for turning complex challenges into clarity and results.
Need someone to handle your marketing so you can focus on running your business?
Lacking in-house expertise in SEO, Google Ads or digital strategy?
Keen to learn more about SEO+AIO with a mentor who can explain it simply and upskill your team?
My experience spans national and international brands, not-for-profits, local government, education, health and professional services. Today I’m the SEO lead at Melbourne agency Foresight Digital and manage SEO & SEM at award-winning Sunshine Coast agency Macneil & Co.
I value long-term partnerships with clients and agencies. I’m not into small one-off jobs. I want to dive deep and build something meaningful that lasts.
I’m known for my attention to detail. Clients appreciate that I make sure every duck is not just in a row but marching in perfect formation! I am that person who dots the i’s and crosses the t’s.
My favourite things
My happy place is by the coast.
The ocean gives me calm and energy in equal measures. Nothing balances me quite like SUPping in Caloundra’s Pumicestone Passage.
Travel is my reset button.
Exploring somewhere new with my wife always shifts my perspective. Right now, I’m drawn to Europe, Canada and Singapore (always Singapore).
My soul food is music.
There’s nothing like the pulse, vigour and energy of a live music event, especially sweating with the masses up the front in GA.
Gardening is my therapy.
I love growing things, from herbs in pretty pots to messy English-garden-inspired flowerbeds brimming with vivid colour.
I’m a fountain fanatic.
Fountains fascinate me. I can’t just walk past. I must stop, dip my toe or even immerse. There’s something so joyful about water dancing in air.
My Story
As a curious child, my favourite question was, “What was there when nothing was there?” I was also a little nosy, wanting to know how things worked and what people were doing. Also, why?…always why.
As a teenager, the school newspaper gave this curiosity, accompanied by a passion for writing, an outlet. I thrived on it, spending every lunchtime researching and writing. Becoming the editor was my proudest school achievement, eclipsed only by winning the best school newspaper in NSW that year.
When it came time for work experience, I immersed myself in the ABC Radio newsroom in Wollongong. I was already a writer. It was instinctual for me.
After working as a journalist with a local newspaper, I flew the coop, taking off for a life of adventure at sea (that’s another story). But everywhere I have worked, I have written, nurturing that curiosity, complemented by a growing suite of marketing skills that gave my writing a platform.
As the world moved to digital, I became enthralled with SEO and Google Ads. In print, I used to wonder how many people would read my words. Online, everything was measurable. That left brain / right brain balance is a trip for someone who has always been a little geeky.
And so I landed in digital marketing, caught hook, line and sinker by the opportunity to use my curiosity in a new way. I’m fascinated by the technical aspects of search and how I can influence results.
I also happen to be a massive Sherlock Holmes fan so positioning myself as Search Sleuth still gives me a child-like grin.
A passionate supporter of closing the literacy gap in Australia, I proudly support the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, which fosters a love of reading in children from remote communities.
Since gynaecological cancer affected my family in 2021, I have supported the Queensland Centre for Gynaecological Research at UQ. QCGC conducts life-changing research into causes, prevention and better treatment options.
I acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which I live and work, the Kabi Kabi and Jinibara peoples of the Sunshine Coast. I recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture, and pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging. I honour them as the original storytellers and knowledge holders of this beautiful place which I call home.
“I cannot recommend Bek enough for anybody wanting assistance in developing their business brand, website or marketing. Bek is efficient and easy to communicate with. We continue to use services to ensure high Google rankings and a clear marketing strategy.”
